hello kim,
daniel shively here.what an interesting story you have.
the part i like the best is that your family actually talked about their history.very cool.mine did not. other then my dad talking about his grandfather.but certainly nothing as far back as peter and sarah.so my hats off to you and yours.even if like you say some of the wheels are coming off.
you have a key date there in 1858 that you think peter married christiann.for in the 1860census i have peter up in ionia, mi.and not with christiann.do you show the two of them in a census record for 1860?
then i know this:
I would like to share information on the lineage of Daniel and Peter Shively who were in Tuscarawas County, Ohio in 1850. Located on the 1850 Tuscarawas County, Ohio census record is the family of Peter Shively in Sandy Township. Listed in the household are Peter Shively age 39, wife Sarah, daughter Elizabeth age 21, son William age 19, daughter Margarett A age 18, daughter Mary J age 14, son Daniel age 12 and son Peter age 9.By 1860 Peter and family have moved to Ionia County, Michigan where they are located on the census record. The death certificate for son Daniel Shively lists his parents as Peter Shively and Sarah Miller. There is a marriage certificate in Tuscarawas County for Peter Shevely and Sarah Foster dated 10-April-1828.It would be interesting if someone could comment about these marriage records. Is it possible these early Tuscarawas marriage records were recopied at a later date? The reason is that the handwriting appears to be the style of early 1900's rather than the style of writing from the early 1800's.If this occurred it might be possible that in transcribing Sarah's last name was recorded incorrectly. The information on the death certificate was a William Shively who it is believed was Daniel Shively's son. One would think that he would know the name of his grandmother Sarah Shively. There is a record in the Michigan death records for Sarah Shively who died on 12-Aug-1881 in Ionia County.
From the Ohio death certificate Daniel Shively is recorded born 16-Dec-1838. He died 4-June-1913 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. His wife was Phoebe (Phebe) Ann Rose. Daniel and Phoebe Ann are listed on the 1880 Ionia County, Michigan census with son William age 9. William Shively married Lucy Foster in Inonia County, Michigan on 3-Apr- 1889. The Michigan death records list 3 children of Daniel and Phebe Shively who died in 1870:Alice Shively born 14-Sep-1865 died 7-Jun-1870, Sarah Shively born 5-Oct-1867 died 15-Jun-1870, and Lilla A. Shively born 19-Apr-1867 died 17-Jun-870.Another son of Daniel and Phoebe was Frank Shively born 17-Oct-1882 in Ionia County, Michigan and died 28-Sep-1941 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.Frank married Elizabeth (Bessie) Murphy who was born 29-Nov-1883 in Rockford, Winnebago County, IL died 7-Dec-1963 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.
yes i know lots of that doesn't pertain to you since you are not part of the peter and sarah union.but...
we need to focus on 1860.because it's after you show that peter and sarah are married.
i don't have a copy with me here at work.so i'll dig it up this weekend and see what exactly is says.as in who all is toghether and where are they.
please do the same for your 1860 census record for them.
it's going to be interesting to say the least.
right or wrong, related or not, let's figure this out.
i'm sorry.i just re-read what you wrote.you show christiann with husband george in 1860.hmmm.
what date and where does your aunt's records show peter dying?
interesting stuff for sure.
