I have done a little work on this family and do not mean to confuse the issue but would like the Shively researchers to consider this as a possible lineage:
From the 1850 Keokuk Iowa Census, Sigourney Township there is an entry for Conrad Shively 44 b PA, Mary 39 b MD, Elizabeth 18 b Oh, Jonathan 15 b OH, Peter 13 b OH, Samuel 11 b OH, Mary A 9 b OH. On the 1860 Keokuk Iowa Census, Sigourney Township there is an entry for Conrad Shively 54 b PA, Mary 49 b MD, Samuel 21 b OH, Mary 19 b OH, David 17 b OH, Leah 15 b OH, Cahtarine 13 b IA, Daniel 10 b IA, Abram 8 b IA, Sarah E 5 b IA.
I would like to suggest that Abram was a son of Conrad Shively and Mary Magdalena "Polly" Grice. Conrad was born 3-Nov-1806 and died 29-Mar-1878 in Sigourney, Keokuk County, Iowa. I show they were married on 8-Jun-1830.
Conrad Shively was a son of Conrad Shively and Mary Moyer (daughter of Henry Moyer). From information entitled, "Descendants of Christian Shively of Warwick Twp, Lancaster Co and later York Twp, York Co., PA" by Arthur G. Black, 1941 I copy some of the following information (if you are interested in a copy of this book Greg Shively recently made 8 trips to the DAR library in Washington, D.C. and reproduced this important information for the Shively researchers): As late as 29-Nov-1803 Conrad Shively lived in W. Buffalo Twp, Northumberland Co, PA (now Union County after 1813) as shown by Deed Book M Page 443 at Sunbury, PA. Conrad went to Columbiana Co, Ohio first to Middleton Twp; then later he went to Stark Co., OH, Nimishillen Twp. He died at Louisville, Ohio-Nimishillen Twp, Stark Co., OH. His will is dated 26-May-1845. (The will for Henry Moyer is found in Deed Book I, Page 250 at Lewisburg, Union Co, PA and proves Mary Moyer is daughter of Henry).
Conrad Shively was the son of John Scheibly (Shively) and Eve ?. John was born 24-July-1748 and disappeared after an Indian raid in 1781 and never heard from again. His widow married 2nd Phillip Mann. After she married the 2nd time they moved to Middletown Township, Columbiana Co, Ohio.
John Shively was the son of Christian Shively b 25-Dec-1718 died Nov 1773 at York Twp, York Co, PA. He was married on 14-Oct-1744 to Esther Naffin (Neff) b 11-June-11719 died Dec-1803 at Monaghan Twp, York Co, PA.
Christian Shively was the son of Christian Schaublin (Shively) bapt 5-Feb-1684, village of Oberdorf, Canton of Basel, Switzerland, died 1752 in Lancaster County, PA. He was married on July 14, 1708 to Barbara Spithaler (Spitler) b 9-Aug-1689, died 9-Jan-1759. Christian and Barbara came to America in 1736 on the ship, Princess Augusta.
Christian Schaublin was a son of Hans Jacob Schaublin bapt 11-Apr-1676 Oberdorf. He married Anna Spitler on 12-Apr-1701.
Christian Schaublin was a son of Durs Schaublin. Durs Schaublin was born perhaps ca 1650, probably Oberdorf; date of death not known; married 12-May-1674 to Margareth Straumann of Waldenburg, born 1653 in Waldenburg, daughter of Christian Straumann and Anges Gotschin.
This is not my direct line but enjoy all of the Shively lines. I would suggest the other Shively researchers to please verify this suggested lineage before accepting 100 percent.
