I'm looking for information on the Peter Shively who married Sarah Foster in Tuscarawas County, Ohio on April 10, 1828. I found the family in the 1850 Census in Sandy, Tuscarawas County, OH, but by 1860 they had moved to Ionia County, Michigan where at least two of their sons (Daniel and Peter) married and raised families. I believe Sarah died sometime before 1862 in Ionia County and Peter remarried.
In the 1850 census Peter is listed as age 39, born in Ohio and a farmer. Sarah was listed as 46 and born in Pennsylvania. With them are the following children: Elizabeth(21), William (19), Margaret (18), Mary J. (14), Daniel (12) and Peter (9).
In another household in the township of Sandy was Daniel Shively, age 83, Sarah Shively, age 82, and James Shively, age 41. Here is the entire household:
Household Gender Age
John J Wolf M 49y
Nancy Wolf F 52y
Elizabeth Johnson F 31y
Edith Johnson F 22y
Nancy Johnson F 19y
Margarett A Johnson F 17y
Daniel Shively M 83y
Sarah Shively F 82y
James Shively M 41y
I'm thinking that Daniel and Sarah Shively are possibly the parents of Peter and James, and possibly Nancy Wolf. The name Johnson is also associated with the Shively family in Michigan and is carried by several males as their middle name.
In the 1860 census the family is living in Ionia, Ionia County, Michigan. Only the younger two boys are living with them, and no other Shivelys in the area. Also living with them is Amanda J. Stainer, age 7, born in Ohio (possibly a granddaughter?)
Does anyone have information on the Shivelys in Tuscarawas County?
Thank you. Kim
