There are two different lines of Shively's.

The first line is descended from Durs Schaeublin of Switzerland. His son, Christian, located for a brief time in the Alsace-Lorraine area due to political persecution before moving to Pennsylvania. I have a web page devoted to the descendants of Durs Schaeublin. One can check there to see if their descendant is there. Or if they find a link, but the descendant line is missing, they are welcome to submit their line for inclusion.

The other line is German. The name would come from the name Scheible, Schieble, Scheibly, etc. A search in a German phone book locates thousands of people for the various spellings.

As for Conrad, I have two Conrads in my database, but both were born in Pennsylvania later on. Because of where you state he came from (which I seem to remember as Baden), my suspicion is that he is German and not Swiss.

I really wish I could help you.

Marilyn
