I spoke to my uncle a few days ago and he mentioned that he was at a family reunion in Indiana where he met a relative from our Shively line. The guy sent him a lot of history, dating back to the 1700s. According to the geneology for our line, the Shivelys came from the Alsace-Lorraine area of France (currently)and they were hugeunots. Alsace-Lorraine has gone back and forth between Germany and France several times throughout history. I hope to have more info on the Shivelys in the midwest very soon. If you like I'd be happy to compare notes.
