The Shamokin, PA Shively's descend from John Shively born abt June 18, 1830 in Wurtemburg and Eva Regina Franks born abt 1831 in Wurtemburg. Their son, Jacob (per 1860 Census for Tremont, Schuylkill County was born in Pennsylvania but other records indicate he was born in Wurtemburg September 29, 1853. He married Sarah Jane Chubb on January 01, 1874 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lykens, PA. and he died on December 18, 1898. Sarah Jane Chubb died on April 02, 1953. Their children were Charles F. Shively b. October 29, 1880, Jacob E. Shively born August o3, 1883, Frederick Henry Shively born October 31, 1885, Harry Shively born Feb 10, 1887, Arthur James Shively born Dec 09, 1890, Francis H. born Feb 25, 1895, and Clarence W. born Feb 10, 1897. I had long suspected that this line descends from John Shively born 1830 but only recently found the (smoking gun) - 1860 Census information since the name was spelled "Sheiply" on the Census. The 1860 Census shows John age 30 head of household, Eva age 29 his spouse and their children as Jacob age 7 and John H (my grandfather) as age 4. Another child "Carolina" was born October 24, 1858 but is not listed on this or any other record, I can only assume that she died in infancy. So Dennis as this turns out, I believe that you are my 2nd cousin once removed. Let me know if you would like more information.
