According to these folks, this family goes back to Andreas Scherger who came to Pennsylvania from France. Andreas had a son, Gideon, who had a son Andrew who had a son Gideon who had your William. In the U.S. the name Chartier has many variations with Shirkey being one of them. Notify Administrator about this message?
