Marilyn,
I have a good deal of information and contacts on John's line.
I have John being born in Rockingham Co., VA and marrying Mary, possibly Mary Beam. John moved to Seneca Co., OH ca 1831 and died in Bettsville, Liberty Twp., Seneca Co., OH in 1882.
My information has been compiled from contributors and is not original research.
I show John as the son of Gideon (or Killean) and Frances (?) Shirkey. This Shirkey line may have been from the area around the borders of Germany, France and Switzerland.
John and Mary had the following children:
