Well, I do believe, that you've the wrong family.. thought maybe you were a beginner so no need to appologize for not being born!! Suggest you contact Tom SHIREY, Natrona Hgt's., PA., who has post on here, I think, or possibly on Mohney or Polliard board as some of that line were in Brookville. There are still some SHIREY'S living around Brookville, PA. area.

To thoroughly confuse you my friend --- The names are the "same" first names and it's most confusing and to further confuse you their nicknames were the same as in our family!! Their roots go back to a Nicholas SHIRY....and it's odd, but he's buried in the same cemetery as my folks!! But, he was a School teacher there and was killed in 1852 when he fell off the church roof helping put up a Chimney. He was married to a POLLIARD. His widow then remarried a MOHNEY, who had been also married to the POLLIARD'S sister!! Got that one?? In other words, widower and widow of the two girls married each other then and had more kids!

My G. grandfather, Simon Jonas SHIRY died in 1910, of Redbank Twp., Armstrong Co, PA. [between Mayport, PA. and New Salem, PA.] did have a brother: John SHIRY, JR. married to Susanna (HAINES) [All buried at North Freedom, now U. M. Church Cemetery] They had a son, Amos died 1926, but he married Annie BURKETT and she died in 1960, as I recall think they are buried at Widnoon, PA. [I haven't any births the family did not know!] They only had two sons: Lee b. 1900 was of the New Castle area, [some of that family is along Rte. 8] and Herman b. 1903 who died in Erie, PA., in 1983. [This clan was in Vol. # 5]

Good hunting!! If Tom SHIREY doesn't answer you a relative of his... Mrs. Gene SHIREY...namely Blanche, and I corresponded long, long before days of computer's, and before you were even placed on the "drawing board" by your parents corresponded by what was known as "Pen & paper or a Typewriter"....ever hear of those items?? I helped Blanche much with Nicholas SHIREY Family!! They live in Elkhart, Indiana. She gave her stuff to Tom, whom I believe is a nephew, not quite 100% positive on that. Tom is Principal in the H. S. so should be easy to find! He had lived in Clarion, PA., but has moved, and while I've talked to the guy on the phone, I have never met him. Whereas, I have Blanche & her husband Gene back in 1960's!!

Clarence R. Shirey, a/k/a C. R.
