The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa

LAURA S. LARIMER was born in Lucas County, Iowa, April 29, 1855, and
departed this life June 6, 1908. She was united in marriage to F.H. DE LANO
September 16, 1879.
She has resided in Russell, Iowa since that time with the exception of four years spent in California. To them was born one daughter, HARRIETT L. DE LANO. Her husband and daughter she leaves mourn her loss, also the following brothers and sisters: WILLIAM LARIMER, WILSON A. LARIMER, LEROY LARMIER, all of Lucas County; ALEXANDER LARIMER of Luverne, Iowa; MRS. MARY LODGE of Russell, Iowa; MRS. H.A. SHIRER of Knoxville,Iowa; and MRS. J.R.MORRIS of Abington, Ill. All are present with the exception of MRS. MORRIS,
who is detained by sickness.
In early life the departed united with the Methodist Church and in 1886 she
joined the Baptist Church with her husband, and was a most devoted member
till death called her away. Not only was she a regular attendant at the
preaching services when health permitted, but found her element in the
prayer meeting, where her voice was often heard when able to be present.
She taught in the Sunday school, taking great interest in the infant
department, and was an active member of the Benevolent Society and Mission
Circle. Everything connected with the church was an object of interest to
her. Just a week ago today at her request a meeting of a few sisters of the
church was held at her house for prayer, when she prayed in a most
impressive manner, especially for the church.
For nearly three years she has been afflicted, most of the time with much
suffering, which she bore with great patience and resignation. She has
longed to depart and be with her Savior. Death had no terrors for her.
During the whole of her illness she never lost her confidence in Him and His
promises.
Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church where the large concourse of friends gathered to pay their last respects to the deceased. The floral tributes were profuse and beautiful; The four brothers, ROY, WM., WILSON and ALEXANDER, and two nephews, FRANK and FRED LARIMER, were pall bearers. Interment was made in the Russell Cemetery. A host of friends join in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives in their sorrow.
Those attending the funeral services from a distance were Dr. and Mrs. J.A.
McKlveen, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Russell, Mesdames Will Schreiber, Alice
Larimer, Edna Henderson, Jacob McKlveen, Hal Larimer, Nora Wilson, W.H. Argo, Nellie Moler, and Miss Mae Van Arsdale, of Chariton; Mrs. H.S. Boyd, of Des Moines; H.A. Shirer and wife and daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Young, of Knoxville; and Mrs. Myrtle Beal, of Osceola.
