I didn't know about Joseph until I read one of your posts. My 5th ggf, William Shipp, son of Josiah Shipp III, named my 4th ggf Joseph instead of Josiah.
To my uncertain knowledge, the Richard Shipp who died in Edgecombe in the late 1770's lived in Lunenburg concurrently with my ancestor Josiah III, and both moved to North Carolina about the same time. There seems to be no doubt in anyone's mind that Richard was a grandson of Josiah I, but I've observed that some researchers claim he was the son of Thomas, and some that he was the son of Richard. The reason I've revisited Shipp genealogy is that there's someone I want to help with the ancestry of this Richard.
