Thanks for the email. Shipman originally served in Company I, 60th North Carolina Troops. At the end of the war, the Army of Tennessee (CS) was reorganized. The 60th North Carolina was dissolved, and its remaining members were integrated into 58th North Carolina Troops. The combined regiment was then known as the 58th North Carolina Troops Consolidated. Shipman was placed in Company E on April 9, 1865, and then surrendered on May 1, 1865, at Greensbroro as a member of the 58th North Carolina.
