Vera R. Shipman
HUDSON — Vera R. Shipman, age 80, of Hudson passed away Friday evening, Dec. 21, 2007, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor after a short illness.
She was born Aug. 13, 1927, at Prattville, the daughter of John and Emily (Brown) Munsell. She married Clarence Shipman, Jr. on Feb. 24, 1951, in Hudson, and he preceded her in death July 28, 2004. She was a lifelong resident of the Prattville-Hudson area and was a graduate of Waldron High School. Vera was a former employee of the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility from 1973-1990 and was a member of the Fayette Bible Church in Fayette, Ohio.
Surviving are one son, Steven (Judith) Shipman of Hudson; two daughters, Priscilla Shipman of Hudson and Paulette (Paul) Bundy of Traverse City; seven grandchildren, Amanda Shipman, Joshua Bundy, Adam Shipman, Brian Bundy, Nathanael Bundy, Anna Bundy and Esther Bundy. Also by many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and by 12 brothers and sisters, Floyd Munsell, Sylvia Seidel, Eva Cottrell, Edna Wade, Everett Munsell, Velma Wade, Lynford Munsell, Dale Munsell, Norman Munsell, Cletus Munsell, Dallas Munsell and by Lyndon Munsell in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at the Fayette Bible Church in Fayette, Ohio, with the Rev. Jeff Allen and the Rev. Paul Bundy officiating. Interment will be made in the in the Prattville Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson.
