Two Old Shipley Death Notices
Two Shipley death notices were announced in the Tuesday, February 8, 1927 edition of the Kingsport Times, News from Nearby Communities column.
The first was "Miss Eliza Shipley."She died at her home in the Childress section of Sullivan County, TN, near Hemlock, on Friday, February 4, 1927 and was buried in the family cemetery on Sunday, February 6, 1927.I believe she was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Shipley, Jr. and Edna Mauk Shipley and the wife of Noah Childress.
The other was "Miss Lida Anna Shipley."She was from the Rocky Point section of Sullivan County, TN.She also died on Friday, February 4, 1927 and was buried "at the old Shipley cemetery" on Sunday, February 6, 1927.Pallbearers were Hobart Shipley, Wallace Shipley, Alom Isley, Ben Shipley, Wilmer Duff, and Ted Shipley.I haven't been able to link her to her parents or to a husband.Any help in that regard would be appreciated.
The last time my wife and I visited the Old Shipley Cemetery, I didn't see markers for either.
