Hi John.........Thanks for responding to my 'SHINGLESTON' of Kent, England, UK interest. I don't know of any link with Bexleyheath or Slade Green in Kent but will keep it in mind. In my case, the surname is invariably recorded as 'SHINGLESTON' (With the extra 'S') and linked with Margate & Whitstable, Kent. Maybe they were plain 'SHINGLETON' once and the name became corrupted with the passage of time - I just don't know. They first surface in Margate c1762, spreading from there to nearby Whitstable and subsequently to Scotland where they have many descendents. Some Shingleston's remain in East Kent to this day.....Stan Weeks
