My research has taken me to Allen County, KS area. I'm looking for a Shigley, Chambers, Hampton connection. James H. Hampton was the 2nd husband of my great-grandmother Elizabeth Sutherlin/Sutherland Carey Hampton. Married August 13, 1868 in Allen County, KS. (Elizabeth died either 1869 or early 1870) James H. Hampton's sister was Sarah Hampton Shigley wife of George W. Shigley. It appears Hampton and the Shigley's came together to Allen County, KS from Tippecanoe County, IN. according to Hampton's pension records. Eli Fleming of Allen County, KS most likely introduced my ggrandmother to Hampton. Eli Fleming's daughter, Delilah Fleming was married at the time (1868) to William Chambers all of Indiana. I'm interested to know where the Shigley's, Chambers and Fleming's might have met up in Indiana, i.e., Tippecanoe County, Parke County or Warren County at any time. Eli Fleming was in Allen County, KS from 1858 until his death in 1876. Delilah's husband William Chambers died (not sure of date) and she remarried a Joseph Bartlett. I think my ggrandmother's uncle might have been Eli Fleming, but haven't found one bit of proof. Also interested in Delilah Fleming Chambers information and if there might have been a connection of this William Chambers to the Shigley family. Thank you for any information with regards to these people. Patricia
