My grandfather's name was Robert Shier as was my fathers. His parents died in Oregon in the 1918 flu epidemic and he was orphaned and later took the name of Colton. I am just beginning to track my ancestory and would like to confirm rumors. It was said that my Grandfather's branch of the Shiers came from Ireland but I don't know when. they settled in Canada. That is about all that I have. Are we related?
