Dear Timothy,
Howdy cousin! Okay, so we are fairly distantly related, but we are related! My family history program says that we are fourth cousins once removed. It says that our common ancestors are James Smyth the elder of Dromlohan, William Heavener c1787 - 1862, and Elizabeth Drew 1789 - 9 Jan 1880. I am a descendant of Rev Richard Smyth and Mary Anne Molloy, who came to Canada with their 7 children and a Weir nephew and niece. As you probably know, the Shires / Shiers are woven throughout the Smyth tree, as are Weirs and Heaveners.
I have quite a body of information about the various lines, especially the Smyths and Heaveners. I would love to share. I am currently cleaning up a series of reports about the various family lines to send to another descendant of Rev Richard, and could send it to you on CD if you send me your snail mail information.
I am very interested in knowing more about the 17 children of Jacob Shire and his two wives (? and Katherine Heavener). I know quite a bit about Katherine's ancestors and family, who would be your ancestors also.
Hoping that you still get notification of followups from this site,
Doreen Neilley (nee Smyth), Alberta, Canada
