Shiers of Ballingarrane, Co. Limerick

My father, Victor Shier, was born in Ballingarrane in 1919. I can trace the family tree back as far as John Shier, born 1808 who married Nancy/Ann Switzer in 1829, and lived in Ballingarrane. I also have Hank Jones' "The Palatine Families of Ireland" which traces the family from Hans Adam (b. 1674) forward for two generations, but is incomplete after that. Can anyone bridge from John Shier back to cicca 1750?
