I am trying to determine if several Shields, who were married in Union and Fayette Counties, Indiana, during the 1820s, are possibly related. Here's what I’ve found:
-- Shields, Elizabeth and David Sutton, Fayette County; M: 14 Nov 1821.
-- Shields, Matilda and Aaron Bowers, Union County; M: 01 May 1825.
-- Shields, Jane and Isaac Bates, Union County; M: 30 Mar 1826.
-- Shields, Nancy and William Freeman, Fayette County; M: 18 Nov 1826.
-- Shields, Joseph and Matilda Kirkpatrick, Union County; M: 08 Mar 1827.
-- Shields, Thomas and Hannah Kirkpatrick, Union County; M: 29 Jun 1828.
Joseph and Thomas Shields are brothers—they married Kirkpatrick sisters (named in their father's will). With the close proximity of Fayette and Union counties, and the timing of these marriages, I wonder if some of the other Shields are also brothers/sisters. Any help here will be appreciated. I am stuck on ancestry (parents) of Thomas!
