Joyce,
I would be interestedted on the descendents of your Carrol Shewmake. Sometimes it is very hard to figure out which person is which especially when there are 2 or 3 and ages being close. The only pointers that Imay be able to give you is check there ages with different census records and maybe look at the close neighbors and hope that you might find documents that will help.
