I have Jesse (jr) being born in 1793 and died just before 1860 in Choctaw as you said. I recently discovered that Jesse Sr. was born in 1727 in Virginia and died in 1834 in Hickman County,TN. I have been able to trace to Francis Shewmake Jr. (shoemaker actually) who died in VA in 1779 and to his father Fracis Sr. who died in Henrico County VA in 1727. from there I actually have a William Shewmake who was born in England and died in VA. I dont have dates on him yet. I am working to try and verify that Jesse Jr. may have been the one to change the name from Shoemaker to Shewmake. That may explain why he didn't appear in the records as a Junior. Please contact me at randl1003@charter.net if you have any other information. The info about Jesse's brothers is new to me.
