Thanks for responding. Then it sounds like Joel Shew, my ancestor and son of Philip, would be a brother to this Jacob. My Joel Shew was born 1801 in Wilkes, North Carolina and died Feb. 8, 1874 in Vermillion Co, Indiana. Sound right? Do you know anything about Philip and wife Susanna?
