I have Sherwins in my family tree. My great Uncle on my father's side was Reginald Sherwin Mumby. He died in WWI age 19. He was named for his grandmother (his mother's mother) who was Susan Sherwin born to George and Elizabeth Sherwin in 1839 in Boulton, Derbys. In Boulton at this time there were what appears to be four distinct families of Sherwin, who may or may not have been related to one another. William from Alveston, William from Boulton, Noah (who married his wife Esther in Wirksworth), George and Thomas. Around ten years later there was also a Samuel. I have not been able to trace George back any further. It may be that he is the George who married Elizabeth Thaker in 1833 in St. Michaels Derby, but it may also be that he is the George who married Elizabeth Layke in 1821 in Wirksworth (which might mean he was related to Noah Sherwin). I have looked at your website and it would be great to get the various Sherwin families from Derbyshire notated there. I don't know where the name comes from, or if 'my' Sherwins are descended from Ralph. My name Mumby is a Lincolnshire name, although I, my father , grandfather, and greatgrandfather were all born in Derby. My great great grandfather was born in Nottingham on Treatn and his father in Newark on Trent and his father in Horncastle Lincs. So quite a bit of movement east to Derby.
