Being 5th cousins 3 times removed menas the connection is way back in England. One common connection seems to be Oliver Cromwell. Although it could be as far back as King James who hosted Pocahontas or his son Charles I who was killed by Oliver Cromwell.

There are three Native American Families I am following. Chief Logan, Chief Tecumseh and Chief Joseph Brant.

Chief Logan himself states he was related to the "Land Hungry Myers Family". Indeed there are lot of Logan in-laws in this family. Now I am thinking the Sherman family was related to Chief Tecumseh. Then Chief Logan and Chief Tecumseh were related to Chief Joseph Brant who's sister was married to Sir William Johnson. Sir William Johnson seems to be related to James Fenimore Cooper and Ned Myers. This group seems to be related to the Phelps family.

These records are right out of the Fort Hill Cemetery at Alburn NY and the cemetery at Phelps just west of Auburn NY. Plus a little know document titled Americans of Jewish Decent by Malcolm Stern.

If then banker William T Sherman didn't write several letters to his father-in-law about the Myers family listed in Americans of Jewish Decent, I would have never found these connections.
