FYI - Dedham

I just got back from Dedham 3 weeks ago. If you go to research the Sherman's in England, you need to go to Colchester to find records. They ARE NOT located in the National archives out side of London by Kew Cardens. I did not know this and did not have time to go back. Rats! Before you go into the the Dedham church, Edmund Sherman's above ground grave is in the front & to the left. Thomas's grave is straight in, on other side of church in the floor. You have to walk on it to get into the little side room. Edmund Sherman's grave is in between his house and the church. The home is a private residence.

I doubt Sherman's came over with William the Conqueror as the name does not show up in the Dooms Day book.

Just a few observations...

Pat Emerson
