I’m looking for information about the family of James F. Sherman who died intestate in Cherokee Co., Texas, in 1856.
According to probate records, William Sherman was administrator. Was William a brother of James F. Sherman?
James F’s widow, Caroline Sherman, was in Van Zandt County before the estate was settled.
Minor children:
James Sherman—in Van Zandt County with his mother.
Thomas M. Sherman—died before the estate was settled.
William Sherman—in McClellan County before the estate was settled.
Robert Sherman—in Travis County before the estate was settled.
Both William and Robert were of age by the time the estate was finally settled.
James F. might have had a daughter, Margaret V. Sherman b c1838 in Mississippi who married Joseph Pierce Nov. 2, 1854 in Cherokee Co., Texas. They were on the 1860 Cherokee Co. Census and then moved to Johnson Co., Texas.
I can’t find the rest of the Sherman family on a census. I hope someone can help.
