Susan, I am very sorry to hear of your illness, but I quite agree with you about passing on your family history. A great-great-grand-aunt of mine used to say that the current generation owes it to our ancestors "that they should not pass into utter oblivion." I've been researching my family history for nearly ten years now, and am a Sherman descendant; I descend from General William T. Sherman's brother, Hoyt Sherman of Des Moines, Iowa. As for the information about Henry Sherman of Dedham, like most Sherman researchers, I too had fallen into that trap by mistakenly assuming that earlier published Sherman family histories had been correct in determining that Henry was the son of Thomas Sherman and Jane Waller of Yaxley. The research establishing that theory as deeply flawed was first published in the late 1950s, but I only very recently stumbled across it. I have not had anything professionally published, but my research is available online. I maintain my own website (http://geocities.com/parkers_01/) and have posted my genealogy database at RootsWeb (http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=charles-parker). best wishes, Charles Parker Notify Administrator about this message?
