Avery Sherman - b1783 MA, d 1873 VT

I am trying to confirm the birth and parents of Avery Sherman. He was in Waterbury, VT by 1810, and according to death and census records he was born 1783 or 4 in MA.
"The New England Shermans" by Ray Sherman states that he was son of Samuel & Olive Sherman born 26 Dec 1783 in Rochester, MA.
However, the published Vital Records of Rochester do not have the births of any children of Samuel & Olive (although their marriage is listed).
Are there any church records available for Rochester which might have this info?
