Rev. Edmund Sherman of Vermont & Ohio
I'm seeking info on Rev. Edmund Sherman of Vermont, who migrated to Newark, Ohio, probably about 1830 or so. I don't know which denomination he was with, but the Baptist, Congregationalist, or Methodist seem most likely. Rev. Edmund Sherman had a son, Stephen A. Sherman, born in Ohio 16 Feb 1842.
My great-great-grandmother was named Chastina Sherman. She was born 24 Sept 1832 in Licking Co., OH; she was married to Harrison Hartman no later than 1860 in Licking Co.; her oldest son, Stephen A. Hartman was born in Licking Co. in 1861; in 1868 the family moved to Preston Co., WV; she died 24 July 1915 in Preston Co., WV.
According to my grandmother, our ancestors were in Licking county because someone in the family was a preacher. According to the census, Chastina's father was born in Vermont, and her mother was born in Ohio.
I'm fairly confident that Rev. Edmund Sherman was Chastina's father, but I don't know how to link them up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
