Desperately seeking living Irish decendants of Sherlocks and Wallaces of Westmeath.
Anyone knowing of members of these families in Westmeath, particularly in Clonfad and Rochfortbridge and Mullingar, please pass on this request for information.
Below are details of family members who migrated to Australia.
John Sherlock and Margaret Wallace married July 8th 1841 in the
Catholic parish of Rochfortbridge in County Westmeath, witnesses Martin and Dolly Keogh, according to recent info from PP of Rochfortbridge.
They came to Australia on the SS "Alexander" from Plymouth, leaving UK
on 31st August, 1841. On the ship's passenger list both John and
Margaret were described as literate, Catholic and their ages were given as 23 and
25 respectively. They were Bounty Immigrants bought to the colony by Mr R G Jamieson. John's trade was listed as labourer and Margaret's,
housekeeper.
John Sherlock's parents were James Sherlock and Elizabeth nee Brennan.
Margaret Sherlock's parents were James Wallace and Bridget nee Dangan.

as farmer.
It lists John's age at death as 67 on December 26th 1884. so he was
born circa1817/1818.
Margaret died February 27th 1898 aged 82 so born during the period

Civil Parish of Clonfad, Kilcleagh and Mullingar. Relevant towns are

particularly, Clonfad and Rochfortbridge.
ANY CONNECTIONS? Marie
