I think these questions are supposed to focus on your particular line of the Sherlock family. Sherlocks are most often associated with Ireland, but they came from England before that, and possibly Normandy (northern France) before that. Sherlocks have been coming to America almost as long as as settlers have been coming from Britain and Ireland. When your particular family line arrived would have to be researched as would the stories of your ancestors. I don't think general information will help you much. I'd suggest talking to any and all members of your family to get the best information.
