This was a fun one to try and find!
1901 Census
Bradford, Yks
23 Stamford St.
Sarah Sheriff Head Widow 50 Fancy Stuff Weaver born Holbeach, Lincs
Rose Eugene Dau 27 Fancy Stuff Weaver Bradford, Yks
Ambrosini Dau 24 Fancy Stuff Weaver Bradford, Yks
Harry Ambrose Son 18 Railwya Engine Cleaner Halifax, Yks
RG13/4145 Folio 5 Page 2
1891 Census - spelled Sherriff
Bradford, Yks
17 Winding Rd.
Sarah Sherriff Wid 41 Weaver-carpet Lincolnshire
Clara Dau 21 Wire Dresser Bradford, Yks
Maude E. Dau 19 Weaver Bradford, Yks
Rosina J. Dau 18 Weaver Bradford, Yks
Ambrosina Dau 15 Worsted Spinner Bradford, Yks
Roland Son 12 Daffer? Halifax, Yks
Harry A. Son 9 Halifax, Yks
Sarah J. Hunt Dau 10 Bradford, Yks
RG12/3587 Folio 30 Page 29
I'll skip 1881 for a minute and go back to 1879
1871 Census
Bradford, Yks
7 Philadelphia Yard
Ambrose T. Sheriff Head 24 Bookbinder Horncastle, Lincolnshire
Sarah B. Sheriff Wife 21 Worsted Weaver Holbeach, Lincs
Clara L. Dau 3months Bradford, Yks
RG10/4461 Folio 23 Page 5.
Now, I found that an Ambrose Tunstall Sheriffe (note spelling)died March Quarter 1882 in Halifax, Yks - 9a-334
Now I found the family listed on the 1881 census as TUNSTALL
You can find that census at:
http://www.familysearch.org/http://www.familysearch.org/
Now, I found a marriage registered for Ambrose Tunstall Sherriff (note spelling) and Sarah Bush Hunt in December Quarter 1869 in Bradford 9b-280.
However, there seems to be a bit of a mix up because Sarah is also listed as Sarah Bush Flint. I tend to think it is Hunt because of her daughter in 1891. But - if you send for the marriage certificate, I would stipulate the grooms name and leave the brides name blank. You might also want to send for one of the children's birth certifates to confirm if Sarah's maiden name is Hunt.
You can find the births, marriages and deaths at:
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/http://www.freebmd.org.uk/
And you can send for certificates on line at:
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
I found Ambrose with his family in 1861
