Unfortunately, I can't see anything that definitely ties in with my Shergolds, Gillian.
The only thing I can add about my Frederick Shergold is that his father was John Shergold (chairmaker) and his first marriage was in 1858 at the age of 21. I don't know anything at this stage about any siblings he may have had. I haven't started looking in church records as yet.
It does seem to me that there's a large concentration of Shergolds in Wiltshire as well as Hampshire (I think more so in Wiltshire). Perhaps that's a good place to start??
I found a site not long ago of a Shergold whose ancestors came from Wiltshire. http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~shergo/index.html/ Maybe he has heard of a Josiah from Wiltshire!
