Paralee Isobel
Paralee was my great-great-grandmother and was married to Robert Pue Johnston (1848-1915). According to Milda on this board, Paralee's parents were Isham Sherfield and Nancy Alatha Laxton. We have a photo of Paralee with Effie and Etta made around 1906, and she looks very, very indian. I believe Paralee died in Bonita, TX in 1931.
My grandfather believes that Paralee "kicked her husband out of the house," but only after having 9 children together. My aunt said she had been told he was a minister... but who knows? I can't find anything about him anywhere.
Between my grandfather and scanty internet sources, I've been able to come up with the following regarding Paralee's children. Tom was the eldest, Effie and Etta were the youngest, but I don't know the order of the ones in between. My grandfather believe there were 9 siblings, but could only name these.
• Tom
• Ola
• “Oma” (According to Rootsweb: "Nahoma," b. 1884, Boerie, TX; m. 1906 to Eddie McCully in Dill City, OK; d. 1967 Clovis, NM)
• Henry
• Charlie
• Effie (b. 1897?, m. Boyd)
• Etta (b. 1899, Dill City, OK per my grandfather's birth certificate.)
Not asking a question, just putting out the info.
Milda, if you're out there, I'd be interested to know if you've learned more about Isham and Nancy.
