My gggrandmother was Elizabeth Sherbondy, b.17 Jun 1857. She first married John Best around 1877. They lived in Leadville, Lake Co., Co. They had a daughter, Clara Arthelia Best b.11 Jun 1877. They are noted on the 1880 Lake Co. Co. census. John and Elizabeth divorced. John Best kidnapped Clara and took her to a convent in California. Clara did not know of her mothers whereabouts for the next 20 yrs. Elizabeth THEN married McDonald. A newspaper article we have, dated 1900, refers to her as Mrs. J.B. McDonald. Although it could be J.D. or J.G. They had a son Eddie, who looks to be about 25 in a picture we have dated 1925. We are unsure of what happened to McDonald. Eddie McDonald died in Butte Co. Ca. about 1953. His wife's name was Ruth. Elizabeth then married Lymin Nestell. They came from Colorado to California to be near Clara. Elizabeth also had a daughter named Priscilla who died at about age 6. We are not sure if she was a McDonald or a Nestell. Elizabeth died in Eureka, Humbolt Co., Ca. 01 Feb.1932. Lovina, b.08 Jun 1858, married Hart and lived in the Chico, Butte Co. Ca. area. They had an almond orchard. They had a son George and a grandson Marvin "Sonny" Hart. I hope this interests you, I have a bit more info if you're interested. I have also traced Geo. Sherbondy back to Melchior Sherbondy. I would love any additional info you may be aware of !
