Chirstopher C Sherrard is the youngest son of John Holmes Sherard (1798-1855) and Sarah Elizabeth Tartt (1800-1835). His place of birth is Belfast, Wayne, NC. He removed to Livingston, Sumter, Alabama, in 1834, and remained there until about 1854. He attended a prestigious medical school in the Eastern United States and relocated to Mobile, the capitol of Alabama around 1870 to practice medicine. He married Arabella Watkins about 1872 in Mobile and raised three sons, Lewis, Stewart, and Frank, who also became physicians in the Mobile area in the early 1900's. Despite the best of research, this short biographical sketch, is all that I know of Christopher C Sherrard. The one notable item is the change in spelling that Christopher had taken following his residency in medicine in Mobile. I have researched his brother--Napoleon B Sherard (1827-1859)--and his two sisters--Emily Holmes Sherard Johnston (1825-1893) and Martha Tartt Sherard Parker (1831-1861)--and find that Christopher became the single sibling which never returned to Livingston. His medical practice and that of his two sons are well spoken of in Mobile, but their personal lives seem hidden from the public eye. Christopher died in Mobile in 1909, leaving his widow, Arabella, until her death in 1920. Can anyone shed some light on their relations with the family in Livingston.
