SHEPHERD, E.
SHEPHERD, E. Dorene (1924 - 2009 ) Dorene passed away peacefully on May 10, 2009 after a valiant battle against liver failure. Dorene will be dearly missed by her devoted husband of 62 years and lifelong friend, Denis. She will be lovingly remembered by her family; Stan (brother-in-law) & Mary Shepherd, Chris Shepherd (nephew), Mary Anne Shepherd (niece), Avril Shepherd (great niece) & husband Bruce, Aaron Shepherd (great nephew) & family, Ryan Shepherd (great nephew) all from Surrey, Maureen Shepherd (niece) & husband from Vancouver, Elsie Shepherd (sister-in-law), Tom Shepherd (nephew), Carol Harrand (niece) & family, from Regina. Dorene was an intelligent hard working person who took great pleasure in any task given to her. Some of her fondest memories were of her time spent as personal secretary to several Generals while Denis was stationed in Montreal. Dorene made friends from coast to coast and was known for her welcoming smile and generous hospitality. More recently Dorene could be found chatting with neighbours during her walks at SandPointe. Dorene’s favourite poem; "When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little - but not too long and not with your head bowed low, remember the love that we once shared, miss me - but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take, and each must go alone, it’s part of the Master’s plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely & sick at heart, go to the friends we know and bury your sorrow’s in doing good deeds, miss me - but let me go". At Dorene’s request there will be no service. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Cottonwoods Care Centre - Aberdeen Unit c/o KGH Foundation. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.firstmemorialkelowna.com
