I am currently hunting for information on my gr-gr-grandfather GEORGE S. SHEPHARD. 1860 census (US) indicates that he was born in England in 1837. I first find him on the tax rolls in Louisville, Ky., in 1855/56. At some point he married a woman named IONE (pronounced eye-own). He was a printer by trade. He joined the CSA in Louisville in the spring of 1861. He was mustered out in Richmond, VA., in the spring of 1862. He did not return to Louisville, nor can I find any record that he joined another CSA unit in the Richmond area. I have no information on his wife except her first name. He had 1 son, MEREDITH WALTER SHEPHARD, born in 1857 in Louisville, and one daughter ANNA, born in 1854, also in Louisville. Any help would be appreciated.
