David Lyle Shepard Obit
RIGA — David Lyle Shepard, Sr., 53, of Riga passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio.
David was born on Feb. 4, 1955, in Adrian, Mich., the son of Elmer and Mary Elizabeth (Carter) Shepard. On June 2, 1973, David married the former Wilma Jean Torrey.
David was a former employee of Adrian Tankage Recycling Products in Adrian, Mich. He enjoyed woodworking and playing guitar.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean Shepard of Riga; two sons, David L. Shepard, Jr. and Raymond Shepard, both of Adrian; one brother, Richard Shepard of Jasper; and three sisters, June Staup of Ogden Center, Rosemary Herrick of Blissfield and Frances Beck of Petersburg. David was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James and Charles Shepard, and a niece, Toby Staup.
Following the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate the life of David Shepard will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield with the Rev. Keith Smith officiating. Internment of the ashes will follow in Riga Cemetery in Riga Township. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the David Shepard, Sr. family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
