Cherokee Brothers From Missouri

Mary Ann (Polly) SHELTON was born abt 1831 in Harmony Township, Washington County, Missouri. She married John McKee FAUSETT. I know some about her; but next to nothing about her older brothers William, Andrew Jackson & Samuel. Parents are Stephen SHELTON b. 1809 & Nancy BROWN b. abt 1810. Nancy died about 1833 leaving Stephen with 4 small children. He second married Abigail HARRIS b. 1818. It is rumored the boys did not like their step-mother and ran away about 1844 while the family lived in Illinois. Some say relatives in Quincy hid them and helped them "escape". Their mother was mixed blood Cherokee, said to be the daughter of the old settlers Chief John BROWN. All I have are a handful of family stories and no documentation except for Stephen being on the 1830 census for Harmony.
