John Shelton, III, d. October 31, 1798, of Rural Plains, Hanover County, VA, was married three times.
1st wife: Ann Randolph who had no children
2nd wife: Nancy Williamson, who had three children
(1) Robert Shelton
(2) Walter Shelton
(3) Eleanor Shelton
3rd wife: Ann Barrett Southall,Henrico County and she had
four sons and two daughters:
(1) John Southall Shelton, b. 3-22-1784
(2) Alexander Barrett Shelton, b. 9-16-1787
(3) Philip Turner Shelton, b. 2-17-1791
(4) Harriett Ann Shelton, b. 2-13-1794
(5) Polina Shelton, b. 3-3-1796; d. 7-4-1797
(6) Edwin Shelton, b. 6-5-1798 [note he was
a little less than 5 months old when his
father died]
The death date for John, III, and the birth dates of the children were taken from John, III's Bible which was kept by his wife Ann.
