My great-great grandfather was Henry Fleming Shelhorse, Sr. He married Elizabeth Bates the daughter of Isaac Bates. Henry was born in Pittsyvania County, Virginia and was the son of John Barnett Shelhorse and Mary Hoofman Shelhorse. In 1845, he moved his family to what was then Cass County, Georgia (now Gordon County). His father, Barnett, was originally Johann Bernhard Schelhase who arrived in America at New York on August 12, 1776 with his brothers Peter and Martin as part of Company 2 of the ErbPrinz Regiment (Hereditary Prince). If you'd like more details about Henry's family and home or Barnett Shelhorse, let me know.
