Any Shelleys in York County are probably ultimately related to Jacob Shelley (aka Jakob Schelle) who settled in Lancaster County in 1693 from a small town near Leipzig, Germany. Don't know why the name was changed, but suspect it was something an English clerk may have done when the family first settled the farm near Lancaster. You might see if you can find someone with that genealogy. The descendants of Jacob are confusing since they used the same names (David in particular).
