Isham M. Shell b. 1811/1812 South Carolina

I am trying to identify the father of Isham M. Shell, born about 1811/1812 in South Carolina, probably Newberry District. Isham's mother was Nancy McDonald, son of George McDonald of Newberry. We assume Isham's father died, for Nancy married a man whose surname was Bird. Isham is in the 1850 & 1860 census for Sumter County, Alabama with Nancy Bird in the household. In 1870 and 1880 he is in Limestone County, Texas. He married Matilda Forster in Sumter County, Ala. Based on census records their children were: George W., William B., John E., Caswell Calhoun, Roxana M., Bluford M., and Robert C. Will appreciate hearing from anyone researching this line.
