Amending what I said above:
Look at the 1880 census record of this family. All children
were born in NY save Harriett C 5/12 born NJ. This suggests that the family moved from NY to NJ between 1875 and 1880.
You need to try to find a NY State Census for 1875. The
NY State Library in Albany probably has one, as would the NY Public Library in Manhattan.
Try to find New York birth records for the children.
Keep on digging in the Sheldon genealogy mine!
