Richard, upon a closer look into your theory - which I have no data to refute it - only an observation, If Dolly Shelby and Elizabeth Bowden were sisters, their mother's name would not have been Shelby. Otherwise we might have a very interesting relationship! Their mother, Elizabeth Unknown, married Martin Nall. You mentioned a W.A. Bowden with a relationship with Travis Bowden. Is this the adopted W.A. Shelby? If so, how does Travis Bowden relate to the Reese Shelby's? If not, how is Travis related to John...the only Bowden I can logically see a connection to?
I plan on going to Murray Co., KY sometime in 2008 to examine whatever records are available. I live in the Atlanta area, so it will be a little road trip for me.
