I am returning to our Shelby CA Family and would appreicate any input from others who might be connected to this family. We are having a difficult time trancing our roots back out of CA to the East. This is what we have:
JOHN L SHELBY - Born Mississippi - abt 1929
Jeanette (Ann) Hinkley -Wife - Born New Yok 10/30/1835 Died San Jose, CA - 3/5/1920
Children:
Irene Shelby - Born Calif - abt 1858
Ida Shelby - Born Calif - abt 1860
Evan Shelby - Born Calif - abt 1862
John (W) Shelby - Born Soquel, Santa Cruz Co, CA abt 1868
THIS IS MY FRATERNAL GRANDFATHER.

John W Shebly as a young man moved from Soquel to find his fortune in Northern California hearing that there was GOLD in them there hills. He ended up in a town call Rough and Ready, CA in Nevada Co near Grass Valley. He married Mary Elizabeth Bagley and they had three children --two boys and a girl. My father, Alfred Byron Shebly Sr was one of the siblings. Hope to hear from some one who can lead us out of California east ward.
