Thanks for the information. I found another thread started back in 2001 that mentions my g. grandfather and mother. It looks like my Robert M Shelby's father was a James H. or L. Shelby born in 1828. His mother was Martha Jane Flemming born in 1834.

If anyone has any other information or suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.
