Looked up a lot of your past messages, you should write a book on the Sheffield family because you are clearly the expert on it, (was told firmly years ago that we have no connection to Lord Sheffield's family, and don't even think about claimly kinship to it). Still looking for West Sheffield's service in the R.W., believed that he served in the Carolinas under Francis Marion-know he did not serve in GA. Also, West Sheffield did not live on the banks of the Altamaha River in Wayne Co. GA, but on the banks of the Satilla River in what is now Brantley Co., GA. He is buried there with his second wife, 100 yds. from the clubhouse, the Old Satilla River Club. His grandson, Sherrod Sheffield Akins, did not live on his property in Wayne Co. GA, but off the Old Post Road land prabably inherited from his wife's family, Elizabeth Kemp/
